“Cinema, Architecture, and Collectivity”
In this talk, professor Ina Blom will discuss the ramifications of a spectacular artistic project staging an encounter between architecture and moving image media: the reversed cinema production realized in 2007 by the German artist Tobias Rehberger, starring Hollywood stars such as Kim Basinger, Willem Dafoe, and Danny de Vito. The central question is how collectivity is thought or figured within such new media environments.
Ina Blom is a Professor at the Institute of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas at the University of Oslo. Her research interests include modernism/avant-garde studies as well as contemporary art and aesthetics, with a particular focus on media aesthetics. Ina Blom contributes art criticism to Artforum, Parkett, Afterall, Frieze, and Texte zur Kunst. Her most recent book is On the Style Site. Art, Sociality and Television Culture (New York: Sternberg Press, 2007). An edited collection, Raoul Hausmann et les avant-gardes, is forthcoming from Les Presses du réel (Dijon, 2011)
